About Mauritius

The Island of Mauritius is located off the coast of Mozambique, 600 miles from Madagascar
and 120 miles from the French island of Réunion in the Indian Ocean. The island is approximately 600 square mile
with a population of around 1.2 million people. Independent since 1968, Mauritius is a stable democracy with regular
free elections and a positive human rights record. The country has attracted considerable foreign investment
and has earned one of Africa's highest per capita incomes.

Port Louis – Nation’s capital city

Grand Port. Major city: Mahebourg

Moka. Major city: Quartier Militaire

Pamplemousses. Major city: Triolet

Plaines Wilhems. Major city: Rose Hill/ Curepipe

Rivière du Rempart. Major city: Mapou

Savanne. Major city: Souillac
